Experiencing a pediatric intensive care, oncology, burn or trauma unit to me, is a heart wrenching jolt to anyone's world. I had to summon all my "heart" to handle the various states of disrupted life. Right then and there I decided that a positive Light needed to shine on these struggling souls, so new to earth and so old to disease and ravaged by procedures and treatments. I decided that I was going to find a way to provide a positive spin on all of this negative and to provoke a muffled laugh, instigate a tiny smile, a mischievous giggle or just a change to add a sparkle to a weary eye. AND I was going to "hug" each patient by filling them with a sense of pride in themselves for having endured their own health battle, and provide a tangible and intangible way to honor and celebrate their courage!
Just Plain Love™ Charitable Trust was born in 1987.
Children's Health, Development & Healing Books For the past 20 years I have researched, tested, rewritten and reworked these books according to the responses from their healthy and unhealthy readers. It is my dream to inspire the creative imagination of readers of all ages to replace negative thoughts about health issues and experiences with a positive "spin" on their journey to health and wellness. I want each book about "hands off" subjects to be a gateway of communication between the patient, their caregivers, family and friends. These books offer an integrative form of pediatric medicine that evokes each reader's imagination to triumph over negative events so their soul and emotions are in a place of inner peace and emotional wellness no matter what their human body's condition.
Just Plain Love™ Productions Surely, I thought, there could be mini skits/plays, lasting about 10 or 15 minutes that would hold a patient's attention, entertain and educate while imbuing each with a few moments of mental relief through laughter, and a tangible trophy to reward and honor their courage. So I translated my Just Plain Love™ books into mini plays/skits that can be performed by hospital, healthcare and medical facility volunteers or staff in the pediatric wards. It is intent, my dream, and I ask for any and all assistance to develop training manuals, instructional CD's or DVD's that will help teach others how to promote and produce these skits and plays, so children world wide can have a moment of laughter that honor's their journey and celebrates their courage and stamina!
